Barbados
Barbados is the eastern-most Caribbean island. It is flat and easy to get around with an extensive network of paved roads with connecting highways. The island of Barbados is 21 miles long and 14 miles wide. The east coast is rugged with tall cliffs facing the wild surf of the Atlantic Ocean. The west coast is gentler, with soft sand beaches fronting the calm Caribbean Sea. Barbados has a great deal to offer - exciting adventure tours, excellent cuisine, and the warmth of its people. In all 11 parishes there is something to discover.

Andromeda Botanical Gardens
Found in St. Joseph, the Andromeda Botanical Gardens is a six-acre garden containing several varieties of orchids, palms, ferns, heliconia, hibiscus, bougainvillea, begonias and cacti. The beautiful and exotic flowers and trees are complemented by a lovely stream, which bisects the land and forms enchanting pools and waterfalls.

Barbados Museum and Historical Society
The Barbados Museum, located at the Garrison, is housed in the former British Military Prison built in the 1800's. The building became the headquarters of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society in 1930 and today displays the coral structure of Barbados, Amerindian artifacts, furnishings of eighteenth century plantation houses, collections of rare historical maps of the island, and much more historical paraphernalia.

Barbados Wildlife Reserve
Established with Canadian help in 1985, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve is set in four acres of mature mahogany trees and is primarily a monkey sanctuary. The reserve offers visitors an excellent opportunity to observe the Green Monkeys of Barbados at close range and in their own natural habitat.

Harrison's Cave
One of the BTE's 'Seven Wonders of Barbados,' this spectacular cave is one of the island's most famous attractions. A unique phenomenon of nature, Harrison's Cave is an amazing gallery of stalactites hanging from the roof of the cave and stalagmites that emerge from the ground, with streams of crystal-clear running water that drop from spectacular waterfalls to form deep emerald pools.

St. James Parish Church
St. James Parish Church is among the four oldest surviving, historic churches in Barbados. Built in 1847, it is located near the site of the island's first settlement in Holetown. In the southern porch of the church is a bell with the inscription - 'God bless King William, 1696'. This bell pre-dates the famous American Liberty Bell by 54 years.

Shopping in Barbados
With high-quality, tax-free merchandise, excellent service by friendly and knowledgeable sales staff, and comfortable air-conditioned stores, shopping in Barbados truly is just beyond your imagination. The heart and soul of shopping in Barbados is Broad Street in the capital city, Bridgetown. There you will find several large department stores and duty-free shops. In addition to the specialty stores (such as jewelry stores), there are several shopping malls offering a wide variety of products and services.
