Hotel chains could be among the tourism firms that receive a boost from extra funding being added to London's £2 million tourism campaign. An additional cash injection of £400,000 is to be provided by City of London, Camden, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea to strengthen the promotional drive to key international markets. It is hoped the overall campaign will deliver an additional £60 million in economic benefits to the capital by the end of this year. The capital's mayor, Boris Johnson, said: "These additional funds to the war chest from our partner boroughs will make a big difference to the results of our exciting campaign and will help boost visitor numbers further. "It is crucial that we take nothing for granted and continue shouting from the rooftops that London is a fantastic city to visit." London could also be boosted by domestic tourism in the next few months, as research by Mintel has claimed that 35 per cent of consumers are planning to holiday on these shores due to the economic climate. |
